For whatever reason (probably just marketing), the manufacturers/vendors have started including SMI (shared RAM typically reserved for radio/SPL/other hardware) in their total RAM figures. The OS doesn't have access to it, so including it is somewhat pointless outside of just claiming a larger RAM figure. On the Touch Pro/Diamond the SMI is 64MB and RAM size varies from device to device. It sounds like on the VZW Pro the OS will have access to 128MB of RAM + 64MB SMI = their figure of 192MB RAM. The original GSM Diamond was marketed similarly as having 192MB of RAM, although in reality the OS had access to the same 128MB as previous devices like the Kaiser/Vogue/etc.

I also noticed on the VZW site that the phone is listed as "Rev A Capable." Hopefully Verizon users won't have to wait for a Rev A upgrade. At this point, the devices should be coming with Rev A out of the box.

Re: Touch Pro Now On Verizon

Boy am I glad I switched from verizon to sprint. I honestly never thought they would come out with the pro until a year later. Lol doesn't matter any way sprint gets the same reception if not better in my home. Plus i get all the new phones. Including my nice Touch Pro.

I'm not sure why some people are making sudh a big deal out of this, i have a lot of the same software that is on the diamond installed on my XV6700 Apache including touchflo and it runs fairly smoothly

And the TP has 3 times the amount of memory

more than enough it sounds like

On XDA it was said that TF3D is included but disabled by default. You can turn it on if wa nted but it is off by default.

Thing is, when a new feature (tf3d) that is supposed to be the highlight of this device, comes disabled, along with knowing this phone has less ram than other carriers versions, its just funny and sad at the same time.

Along with the fact that I think the verizon model looks like crap compared to sprint.. its just a joke.

Re: Touch Pro Now On Verizon

The verizon version is quite possibly one of the ugliest devices I have ever seen. It looks cheap, with no classiness whatsoever. One of my buddies is all for verizon and have been with verizon for a very long time and he is even thinking about jumping ship. I have never seen anyone that pissed off over a phone but when I saw it I just had to laugh plus it costs more money.
