And to answer your supposedly original question, yes there is a setting in the phone that will force 1X or EVDO. You just have to enable it first in the registry once, and after that you will be able to just change it in the phone->options->services->mode of operation page. You won't have to change the registry everytime..

I was asked for this hack in a cab form so as many say ask and you shall receive here ya go. For those who are new to installing registry edits install this wait one minute then soft reset. If you use a software to soft reset then you greatly increase the chances of it working.

BTW, I notice that there are other "hidden" pages that can be re-enabled, such as NAM selection (useless), alert, and voice privacy.

I see the setting for changing data and voice but cannot find the setting to change the data only/

What I was trying to find was a way to data roam only. It looks like this tweek only changes whether you get 1x or evdo on sprint.
I have alltel here and can force data roam only with a tweek but i also get alltel voice.
I do not want anything but data roam.
Any ideas on how to do this.
