extmodems
hardware
ident

From what I see from mine you just added the d directory because in between controlpanel and drivers is nothing.

audio
button
comm
control
drivers
drivers32
etc.

Thats your software key, just rename it to "Software"

Atleast thats what i think... im assuming that one of your programs recreated the software directory with its own and the new one you see isnt the real thing. Is there anything else in there? The only place i find the folders you mentioned is in the hklm/software.

Either way, back up your registry NOW, dont make any changes that cant be undone!

I use phmreg and theres a backup option in the tools option

If you arent using phm, just look for export or backup, most if not all editors have this option

if you tell me whats inside the "d" directory . I will tell you what it is supposed to be renamed. I have had this problem b4, wen u renamed the directory it recreated the original but the recreated directory is black and needs to be replaced with the "d" directory

The only folder that "midi engine" and "ia style" are in is \HKLM\Software
