Youtube uses Windows Media Player = slow?

The videos on youtube sometimes lag/skip. I also noticed I can't have windows media player opened when youtube is also opened... so i assume it uses windows media player to play it.

Any ideas to speed it up..?

Why would you want to have WM open at the same time as YT? YT plays the videos itself just fine, and no they aren't in WM format.

I've noticed the lag/skip on youtube sometimes but rarely. I notice when this happens, the download takes a while and goes in increments of 2%. What I do is back out and go back to that video again. It then downloads faster and lag/skips goes away. I'm not sure why that is. Can't be coverage since I normally get decent coverage at about 800kps at home. And also I will be in the same exact spot. I've just learned to accept it.

You could be getting EV-DO data bursts. Instead of a steady stream. Try finding an app that will show tcp throughput in a graph like chart. That will let you see if your data is steady or not. You could also tether to your pc and watch the network activity like that in performance monitor.
