How to tell which program is accessing Internet?

Hello All,

Is there a program to tell which pieces of software are accessing the internet? It would also be nice to be able to manage each individually. I have the nodata.cab installed so that I can disable the internet all together but I was just looking for something a little more detailed as to what was using the data connection and stopping things individually.

Thanks for the help,

pea****93

I would love to but for some reason I cannot attach a file. I've attached files in the past but the box where you click to attach a file is there but there isn't anything to click on.

Here's the next best thing!

This is probably the proper way to do it anyways. You'll have to register but it's free.

Re: How to tell which program is accessing Internet?

Bumping the thread to see if anyone has found/created any software that will monitor which programs are starting/accessing my data connection. I know I can just disable my data connection with NoData.cab but I really want to know which program/s are doing it. Maybe something you could start and let run in the background for 24 hours and then open it to see which programs and at what times they started/accessed a data connection.

Any help would be great!

Re: How to tell which program is accessing Internet?

Hmm... have you tried dotFred task manager? http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm

I believe it has a network info tab.

Also, you can set a blank password for the internet so you have to hit OK every time a program tries to connect.

Re: How to tell which program is accessing Internet?

Saumaun,

I have tried DotFreds task manager but didn't see anyway to know which program is actually using the data connection. I'll look again though since my wife tells me all of the time that I'm blind!!

I guess I was hoping that maybe one of the developers here might be able to write a program to actually monitor what was happening with a data connection.

EDIT: Dannzeman posted a link to SPB Wireless Monitor and it works perfect!! Now if I can just find out why SecondToday is accessing the internet randomly?? I'll go check out the thread for SecondToday and see if the developer can answer that.

Thanks for everyone's help!!
