Opera mobile page load speed

I've posted a few times about opera mobile being slow, so I was curious whether it's just me having these problems. I'm sure this is very unscientific, but I was wondering if we could choose a page and see how long it takes to load with full EVDO reception.

Facebook 42 seconds
ppcgeeks.com 23 seconds

Are these numbers right? I feel like it takes unacceptably long for these pages to load.

Re: Opera mobile page load speed

It took me about 16 seconds to fully load PPCGeeks, however the page was readable at around 10 seconds or so, the rest of the time it was loading images. Keep in mind that Opera Mobile is fully loading the page and is not using any kind of server side rendering or anything like (like what Skyfire and Opera Mini does) to help speed up the page. Now comparing it to IE Mobile Opera Mobile is much faster.

Re: Opera mobile page load speed

pdx77, I'm curious to know why this server side rendering isn't implemented for all mobile browsers. I've used opera mini over the EVDO network on my mogul and the loading speed really blows this out of the water. Opera mobile takes about 5 times more time to load pages, and I feel that users would appreciate it so much more if they could have the speed of server-assisted rendering with the functionality that opera mobile offers.

The main thing would be cost, since they would have to pay for the servers and bandwith, not sure why they chose not to do it with Mobile since there are alot less users using Mobile vs Mini.
