Reception Issues?

I have had Sprint for nearly five year now, and the TP is my fourth Windows Mobile phone. With every other phone I have had reception has been great, and I would rarely roam, or lose a signal. However with the TP i am consistantly at one or two bars and have had several instances where I was unable to make a phone call due to no signal. Have any of you had this issue, or noticed any drop in call quality/reception?

Thank you, I looked there, but that is not the issue I am having. That seems to be an issue relating to the data blocking calls due to being in a 1x area. I am aware of this as I live in a 1x area. My issue is with reception, such as searching for a signal, or receiving less bars than before. This is the first time I have experienced any issues with a Sprint device.

Re: Reception Issues?

Strange, my reception has been nothing but steller. Nothing special installed on my phone either - perhaps you have a hardware problem?

Re: Reception Issues?

Sorry, I hit the thanks button by accident. My TP reception is not terrible, but it is certainly lower than the Treo 800. I like the TP much better than my old Treo, but the 800 was very good at keeping a signal. Hopefully a radio update will fix this.

What is the build date for your Phone? This is the first device I have had in my time with sprint that had to search for a signal while in my home, so it is somewhat disappointing.

Re: Reception Issues?

Mine is definitely worse than with my a900. I can't remember ever not having signal or dropping a call with that phone locally. With my TP, I've had dropouts driving around town. And I was unable to make or receive calls in the grocery store. Wife needed to add something to the list, and it rang but couldn't pick up. Couldn't dial out to call back. Had to leave the store to call. Fortunately, I stay around 2 bars at home, or I'd have had no choice but to return it. Disappointing to see such a reduction in reception.

Re: Reception Issues?

My build date is Oct 19. I honestly haven't had a single problem that others have posted - call quality is awesome, volume is actually crazy loud and I usually keep my call volume at about half volume, otherwise its too loud lol. Battery life seems fine for me and I've only once had the phone heat/up crash and that was because the Today timeout was checked. After that was unchecked, no more crash or heating up. Never had charge problems either. Oh and my screen is very responsive... no "non-sensitive" spots near the edge and no discoloration on the back of the phone.

I purchased mine on Oct 30th from Telesales.
