TP:

Open JETCET
Add Network Printer
Select 'Connected to a network domain server or workgroup with a share name'
in the bottom window 'enter a printer path to a workgroup or computer with a shared printer' you need to type in your share name.

To find this, either figure out your computer name, or your computer IP address.

Computer name: Control Panel, System - your computer name is listed in there.
IP address: (XP) Start, Run, CMD, ok, ipconfig - your IP is probably 192.168.x.x
Vista: Orb, CMD (enter), ipconfig

My computer name is 'MONSTER' or '192.168.1.9'

so, on your TP, you want to enter your path like this: \\computer\printer

My specific examples can be \\MONSTER\printer or \\192.168.1.9\printer

once you get that typed in, click next

Select your mfg and model number - or something reasonably close.

If you don't have your printer listed, or anything close - I'd select HP's LaserJet Monochrome Series - this is typically a very generic printer driver that will print to almost anything else. Don't expect color to work with this driver.

It will ask you to give your printer a nick name, and print a test page.

Name it what you'd like, and print a test page.

Select your paper size (Letter is 8.5x11) and select next.

... you should have a piece of paper coming out of your printer a couple seconds later.

*IF* for some reason you get prompted for a username, password and domain, enter your windows login information... your domain in most cases will be your computer name. (I figure that any of you who are actually part of an AD domain will know your domain, username and password info)

Press Finish, and now you should have a shortcut to your printer in JETCET
with you so far, up to Security Tab. there is not a security tab.

Re: Has anyone sucessfully printed from Pro???

This is from MS's site (probably for XP or Vista home users)

If you have a home network, you can share a printer connected to your Windows Vista computer with all the people on your network. Sharing a printer means that anyone on your network can access the printer from their computer and the document will be printed by your printer. Let’s look at how you can use Windows to share a printer with other people on your network.

You can share any printer that’s connected to your computer. If there are printers attached to more than one computer on your network, you can share just one printer or all of them.

To share your printer with other people on your home network, you should first check your network settings. In Network and Sharing Center in Control Panel, turn on printer sharing. Then make sure the network location type is set to Private, which means that your computer can see and access other network computers. If you need to change this, click Customize.

Now you need to set the individual printer so it can be shared. To do that, you open the Printer folder in Control Panel. Right-click the printer you want to share, and then click Sharing. The Sharing tab is where you set up your printer so that other people can find and use it from their own computers. You’ll want to share the printer and type a name for the printer that other people will recognize.

Now other people on your network can connect to this printer. To get started, they’ll need to go to the Printers folder in Control Panel on their computers. There, they can choose to Add a printer, then click Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer, and then select the shared printer. They can set this printer as the default printer, which means they will print to it automatically without having to select it every time. Now, each time they print, your shared printer will be available in the program they’re using.

That’s it! Now you know how to share a printer with people who use your network.

Re: Has anyone sucessfully printed from Pro???

XP:

To share the printer, I opened the Printers and Faxes folder on the computer that was connected to my printer.

To open the Printers and Faxes folder

• Click Start and then click Control Panel.

• Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes.

• In the Printers and Faxes folder, I clicked the printer's icon and, in the tasks pane, I clicked Share This Printer.

• I opened the printer's Properties dialog box, and clicked on the Sharing tab.

• I clicked Share Name, and then clicked OK.

Okay then...

What is your printer share name? ( I had an issue with my share name because it had spaces in it)

You should be able to type (in your phone) \\computer\printer and connect to it.

Do you have any firewalling on your printer PC?

Re: Has anyone sucessfully printed from Pro???

I don't think that the firewall is your issue.. but, turn it off anyway.

I wish I had an XP box that wasn't in a domain. My XP box that I have, also has the security settings tab....
