Any updated reception radio available to flash?

I came from treo 800w which had SUPERIOR reception then the Pro. Has anyone able to figure out to flash a new/old radio to get better reception?

Re: Any updated reception radio available to flash?

i have a treo 800w. and yeah, the reception was damned good.
last week i picked up the touch pro, and was shocked to find the reception dropped bu two and 3 bars! i didnt get a strong signal in my own house. so i took the phone back and reactivated my treo 800w.

i remember seeing somewhere on here about a radio flash for the cdma touch pro.

i cant find it now. so i second the request for any info on flashing the cdma radio.

Yea and 800w is same form factor as pro (no antenna) so the reception should be pretty equal on both devices but its not.

Re: Any updated reception radio available to flash?

here here to the idea of flashing the radio for better reception. I would even trade battery life for better signal, or even better, a way to switch between convserving battery versus reception

never compare (ESPECIALLY 2 different devices) phones by bars

Re: Any updated reception radio available to flash?

Bars don't mean anything between different phones since there is no finite correlation between db level and number bars your phone displays.

This is the same thing as cable modems - where a Moto modem would consider 5db as excellent a Toshiba modem would consider 7db as excellent signal. Same goes for all transmission devices and their firmware/software.

I don't know what the ## code is to see your specific reception strength on the Touch Pro or the 800w, but if you found it for both and compared the numeric readings instead of just a graphical icon reading you would see whether or not there is truly a difference in signal strength/reception.

Re: Any updated reception radio available to flash?

I have even compared in dec. and found treo to be superior. Treo never had to switch to 1x from evdo in my house while pro switches to 1x very often and it wakes up the phone on its own.
