Question Gmail with wifi?

I don't use a data connection on my phone as every where I go I have wifi. I was wondering if there was a way I could view my gmail e-mails under the mail tab without having a data connection. I don't want e-mail's to come into my phone using the data connection. I just want to be able to check my e-mail when I turn on the wifi. Can someone please explain to me how to set this up?

Setup a new email account in the setup. Set it to manual send/receive instead of a timed increments. When you want to check email, manually do a send/receive. I would recommend calling sprint and putting a block on your data connection. You should be able to check email if you are connected via wifi if i'm not mistaken.
