Outlook problems (IMAP and attachments)
Two issues keep coming up:
1) IMAP with Gmail is unbelievably slow. If Gmail itself is not to blame, why is it that it takes several minutes to log on and get my headers (I have a manual/minimum size config going to help speed it up) and sometimes more than one try even when I have good signal strength? What if anything can I do? 2) Attachments - say I have a PDF and I open it up with Adobe Reader LE - very cool - but I can't use Outlook to save the specific file anywhere. I tried checking the 'storage card' option but all I end up with is a folder full of Outlook files which have no file association. I had to uncheck that option and delete it, since it was useless. Is there a program function to save message attachments I haven't found? I can't believe MS would overlook that. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Outlook problems (IMAP and attachments)
I use gmail with imap, and it screams fast. I don't download attachments, and I have 20k for each message. I can download the rest if it is an important message

Re: Outlook problems (IMAP and attachments)
I think I may have found the answer to Issue #1--thanks to MaryGladys on this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=44183 I unchecked the "Sent Items" folder under "Manage Folders". This seems to have sped up things considerably even though it could still be faster. Hopefully it will continue to perform better. I highly recommend you only choose your most essential folders - mine are All Mail, Drafts, Starred and Trash (could probably be even less). I have label folders but don't bother with them, and the general "Inbox" folder is useless to me. HTH. |
Re: Outlook problems (IMAP and attachments)
Does anyone have any advice about the attachment issue?

Re: Outlook problems (IMAP and attachments)
Try tap and hold on the file to Save As ... works for me on my two accounts.
