Touch Pro - Best Buy protection plan question

I've got a Sprint touch pro, unlocked and working on Verizon network. I bought it from Bestbuy, and want to get the BB protection plan. I called them, and asked them hypothetically whether the BB plan would still cover me, if I decided to unlock the phone and use it on VZW. The cell phone rep told me that the plan would still cover me, and that it wasn't tied to any carrier relationship I had using the phone.

Anyone know this to either be true or not true? If I choose to get the plan, I wouldn't want to bring it in for service down the road and find out some workmanship defect isn't covered because I switched carriers/unlocked phone. Thanks
jeff

I would seriously doubt they would cover it. Get it in writing.

Agreed. Don't take the word of any customer service person when it comes to things like that.

Re: Touch Pro - Best Buy protection plan question

From my knowlegde of there plan they do not care what you put on to the phone. I would say go to the store and get a brouchure that talks about what is covered and what is not covered and read the fine print. If there is nothing in the brouchure saying its not cover if you unlock and etc. then your fine.

But get the protection brouchue and read it see what it says, and go from there.

Re: Touch Pro - Best Buy protection plan question

Thanks to all--got the brochhure and the fine print refers to the 'actual plan terms and conditions'. I'm on the hunt for these now and will let you know what I find. jeff
