TP wont connect to any ROAM ONLY network
 

I made the registry edits below, but when i select ROAM ONLY it will not connect to any network. Anyone have similar problems? tried in many different locations.



You can make a simple an quick registry change to get the Roam Only option.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\InitProv\PhoneSett ing

1) Change ItemCount to 3

2) Change ItemName3 = Roam Only. (Default = Automatic-B )

Soft reset. Go back to the settings you should now see roaming option.

Not sure what you mean by not connecting to any roaming network. Sprint has roaming agreements all over. So chances are where you do not have good Sprint coverage, there is a Roaming Network to connect to.

I live in fringe Sprint coverage and have to set the Roam Only option while at home. Works flawlessly...

Can you provide more information on what youare seeing/not seeing? Also, have you tried doing a PRL Update from the Settings screen?

I think he's missing some settings.

This is what I have saved for roaming.


Under HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\NetworkService
Change ItemCount to 3 (instead of 2)
Create a new String called ItemName3 with the value of "Roam Only" (without quotes)
Create a new DWord called ItemValue3 with a value of 3

HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\InitProv\PhoneSetting
change ItemCount to 3
New string: ItemName3 Value- Roaming.
New Dword: ItemValue3 Value- 3 New Dword: ItemValue3 Value- 3

i did exactly as your post says. After i make the changes to registly, i am able to select "roam only" from the options. When doing that, the phone just searches for signal forever until i change it back to sprint or automatic. I've tried in multiple locations. im the only one seeing this?

Did you change both like I posted? I have not read his thread.

If you don't change both, the setting does not stick after a softreset.
