Tweaking start up sound?

So in the midst of reading the tweaks etc,I dont recall finding anything that tells us where the file(or name) is that runs when the WM6.1 screen shows up..I would like to change this sound to something more of my liking (A Lewis Black clip about Sprint :P)

When I look in the settings for Sounds and Notifications, theres nothing there that allows me to change the start up sound..

Anyone have an idea where this might be located, and its its in .wav format(which im willing to bet it is)

Thank you in advance

Re: Tweaking start up sound?

It's in the Windows folder, a file called PhoneON.wav. It will also play when you turn the radio on, like if you were in airplane mode. So you can create any sound file you want, name if PhoneOn.wav, then use a program like TotalCommander to replace the file in the Windows folder.

Re: Tweaking start up sound?

Total Commander will not rename the PhoneOn.wav for me. I'm using V2.51. It will let me make a copy of it in the Windows dir, but I can't move, cut, copy, delete or rename the original file. It's attributes are read only, system and a light check mark in front of "in ROM". I tried to change the first two attributes, but it does not accept that either.

Kind of frustating. Anyone got a way to rename that file, or get TC to work for it?

Thanks

Re: Tweaking start up sound?

As was said above, use what ever sound file you want and then name it PhoneOn.wav. Then take that file and using TC, drop it into the windows directory.

You might not be able to rename the original file or delete it, but you should be able to replace it.

If that is still giving you problems, try renaming the file PhoneOn.bak.wav and then dropping the new file into the Windows directory. This is what I had to do for .ttf (fonts) files.

You have to overwrite it. You can't rename files in ROM I don't believe.

I made the changes by overwriting with TC just fine...but now I want to change my windows (WM6.1) boot screen now. Is there a thread that gives that process?

Get a 640x480 .png file and name it welcomehead.192.png

If you like the one below I can change it so your name and number is on there:

Overwriting did not work for me, either. TC's support pages says it can't do anything with ROM files. Not sure if there has been a tweak to the base ROM in this area?

At any rate, I found a work around in this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10940
I just disabled the "EnableSound" reg entry by changing it from 1 to 0. It's in the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction \CDMA\FlightModeOnOFF] directory. No more startup sound.

Thanks for the responses.

I know we have a lot more internal storage, but why does PhoneOff.wav need to be 781KB???
