Backup your contacts using PIMbackup in case this erases them from your phone (it didnt on mine).

Go into activesync on the handheld not on your PC and choose options. Uncheck everything from contacts, calendar, mail, tasks, appointments.

If your contacts get erased reload them using pimbackup
No go. When I go into ActiveSync on my TP it only shows Windows PC and all the boxes for contacts, calendar, e-mail, etc are unchecked and grayed out. I can delete the entire association but that doesn't help. The thread donkey linked to has a similar method but I can't get anything to work. Could it be because I've never synced with a PC with Outlook on it?

Re: Is it possible to hide the Outlook e-mail account?

To remove Outlook (activesync mail) from your inbox.
In your registry editor on your Touch Pro navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\

1. Back it up to a reg file the Folder ActiveSync that way you can restore it if it messes anything else up.
2. Delete the entire Folder or Rename it to say ActiveSync.bkp
3. re-open your inbox and the outlook folder should be gone
4. Hit the Thanks button

I have tested this myself and have had no issues. I now have only Hotmail, Sprint Picture Mail and Text Messages listed. I used Resco Register Editor, but any free one out there will do the same.

It may come back again if you make a new ActiveSync or WMDC partnership, but you can always get rid of it again til next time. Syncing normally seems to work fine and doesn't bring it back.

Enjoy

All you need to uncheck is the email option, FYI, but that does do it. Yay.

Re: Is it possible to hide the Outlook e-mail account?

Once I open Svc do I just click on ActiveSync? If so I get:

Name............................... Data

DLL .................................syncmgr.dll
friendlyname .....................outlook e-mail
name ...............................activesync
usercannotcreate ...............1 (0x000001)

Or do I open the activesync folder? If so I have a folder in there called MsgClasses:

Name ..............................Data
IPM.Note .........................1 (0x000001)

I'm using PHMregedit

Thanks

Re: Is it possible to hide the Outlook e-mail account?

Yeah same question here. Do I delete the entire Activesync folder or a specific key inside? Another question would be if at some point I decide to sync with Outlook or want to set up an EAS account, do I need to restore the registry key or will I be able to add the account normally?

Re: Is it possible to hide the Outlook e-mail account?

Just delete the entire ActiveSync folder.

You can also just rename the ActiveSync folder to say ActiveSync.bkp and it should remove it as well.

The folder would probably be recreated if you were to setup an Outlook sync or EAS account in the future, but if you are worried I would use the renaming option.

I saved a backup of the whole folder, but probably won't ever use it. It's just a CYA if you don't want to hard rest the thing later to figure out how to get it back.

Re: Removing Outlook E-mail from list

You don't add anyting to the registery just delete or rename it.

In your registry editor on your Touch Pro navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\

Delete the entire Folder ActiveSync or rename it to say ActiveSync.bkp

Delete the one called Active Sync if you created it as well to remove it.

Re: Is it possible to hide the Outlook e-mail account?

That did it, thanks so much! I renamed the ActiveSync folder to ActiveSync_bak and it's now gone from Outlook. As a test I renamed it back and it showed back up. So I can keep it hidden for now and if I ever want to sync with Outlook or use EAS that's still an option.
