External Hard Drive

Is it possible for the phone to see an external hard drive? It would be nice since I have a big movie and music collection. I have a 8gb memory card coming but I have high quality movies and I rather not convert all of them.

Re: External Hard Drive

Don't think that is possible. You might try Orb to do streaming from a computer. I use it all the time. just have not had time to test it out on the Pro yet.

Re: External Hard Drive

I use orb too. I just thought it would be quicker using an external hard drive to do that instead. I would probably use orb most of the time. But if I go away for the weekend figured that would be easier to do and quicker too.

Re: External Hard Drive

there was a project over at XDA and it has also been posted somewhere here regarding the phone possibly having usb host capabilities (plugging usb devices into phone for the phone to recognize and use). still being looked at, may be possible, may not.

Re: External Hard Drive

I have been looking into usb host so I can use a touchscreen with my phone. From what I have found so far it looks like it may be possible but there isn't much information on even how to theoretically make it work. I found a post on a car audio website about someone who made usb host work with the htc advantage by using windows CE drivers but i'm sure it would be different for the pro. There was even a post on xda forums explaining how to make the usb cable needed and it was even used to flash the phone using a usb thumb drive.
