Touch Pro MSL

Hi,

Did anyone successfully get their MSL from getspc.exe and used on the phone? I had a copy that worked on Treo before but the MSL generated from Touch Pro can not be used when I dial ##3282# (##DATA#) and select edit. What am I doing wrong here? I used 8 digit hex number and letters were using capital ones.

the msl code I got from getspc did not work right. It seemed to be the onetime programming code sprint gave me. I was able to correctly find the msl by using the putty method to com9.

Hi Jeff, you should have searched for this answer, its posted often.

Anyways to give you a quick answer, getspc doesn't work. You can call Sprint and ask them for the MSL they will gladly give it to you no questions asked. There are also other posts with other ways of obtanining the MSL using some programs.. Read the warnings on those options before possibly messing up your phone and PC.

P.S. Here is one option, try each at your own discretion; http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...18&postcount=4

emmm i dont believe you can mess your phone up by finding the msl. you are not writing anything to the device.

Either way, the following is sucessful:

* Start your favorite pocket-pc terminal program (like pocketPutty - http://www.pocketputty.net/)
* Connect to com9 (Putty used default speed of 9600)
* type in AT+HTC_RMSL=0 and hit enter, your MSL will be displayed.

There is an option given on the forums using CDMAWORKSHOP that used improperly can render your phone useless.. Also depending on where you get the program, it includes a trojan, also messing up your PC. The guide does mention he recommends using the trial off the author's site. I didn't want to mention this because I didn't want anyone to end up messing things up.

The option you've posted is a much safer route. Thanks

ahh yes CDMA workshop. I would not use that for finding msl. Putty is much easier and safer. CDMA workshop is just fun. =]

Thanks! That did the trick. getspc did work on my Treo 700WX before and the same info is littered all over this site and it is hard to separate from truth ;)
