In the "Event" drop down, select messaging: New Text Message

Does anyone know the software or tweak needed so that you can have a different text tone and call tone for each contact??? I had this on my Rumor and was (as I see now) completely spoiled to it.

You can change that in settings/sounds & notifications. Or am I missing something?

Re: Where are the alerts for text messaging...

custom tones for sms messages and e-mails like not using the ones specific to the htc settings... is that possible. i wish i could find where they located the sounds in the files... then maybe they could be changed...

Re: Where are the alerts for text messaging...

looks like i stumbled into to the answer for this one on my own
heres how to do it.

using total commander, access the dir "windows\rings\

this is where all those stupid notifications are listed. ive already deleted 2 to make sure it would work properly. im about to add some. make sure to match the same formats that are listed in the folder "such as wav. and wma." those were the two extensions i came across...

ill keep ya posted

Re: Where are the alerts for text messaging...

ok so i added the file into the folder. i named it one of the names of an existing file such as Alarm-Synth.wav i overwrote the existing file. when i exited TC it showed two Alarm-Synth choices. one was the original. one was the wav i selected. so now i have custom text message and e-mail ringtones.
