Turn Off Slide-Open Menu

anyone know of a regedit that can be done to disable the menu that appears when you slide out the keyboard? I really am not fond of it.

(Searched the forum with no luck)

Re: Turn Off Slide-Open Menu

Out of curiosity (genuine, no sarcasm meant), what would you expect/want in its place? I'm not sure what a simple regedit to turn it off would leave us with that was any better. Might be interesting, though, because as-is I haven't made heavy use of it. I can get to Email, Messages, and Web Search via keys built into the keyboard (so if it appears while the keyboard's open, there's no advantage), I'm not sure why I'd need to open the bookmarks directly while also having the keyboard open, and I can reach the equivalent of Contacts by just typing. So only the Calendar, Tasks, and Notes remain useful, and really only the last two benefit heavily from the keyboard being pre-opened, if at all. Might be cool to see if we can replace it with something more customizable.

That said, it also doesn't bother me, so unless there's a really strong replacement, I'm fine with it.

Re: Turn Off Slide-Open Menu

I'm not fond of the HTC Action Screen myself. I'd love to be able to use a landscape-oriented TF3D instead, but I'm not sure if that's possible. Forcing the Diamond to switch orientation on the home screen simply reverts back to portrait.

Re: Turn Off Slide-Open Menu

This is what they came up with instead of landscape oriented manila. It wouldn't work too well on its side anyhow.

It bugs me because quite often, I'll open a text message from the TF3D window, then turn the phone and open the keyboard to respond... Once I open the keyboard, that window pops up even if I was already in the text message screen, and clicking on messages forces me to re-choose who I was going to respond to, adding extra button pushes.

I'd love it if I could eliminate it from launching that app by default but re-bind either the text or email button on the keyboard to launch it.

To answer your question, I want nothing, haha. I didn't think about TF3D not "working" in landscape, but I really just don't like the menu. It seems to bog down the phone and I never use it anyway. Too many times it seems I slide open the phone and it takes it a few seconds for that menu to go away.

I want HTC Home to display in landscape mode. That would be super badass.

Re: Turn Off Slide-Open Menu

When I open the keyboard for landscape, mine automatically opens the last number I called among my call history and contacts.

Same for you guys?
