Touch Pro Screen Burn In

The unlock keypad seems to be burnt into the screen slightly on my 8 day old Touch Pro. Seems od for an lcd screen on a high end phone. It's not too bad I do have to look for it but it is there. Anyone else?

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

You are wrong, you can burn in LCD. To prove this go to the store and buy an LCD monitor. Leave a static image on it and set the contrast and brightness up all the way. Leave it on for a week and then report back. =P

Cheers,

Mikee

AH, the other poster deleted his post. Haha.

On another note:
I would return it to the store for a exchange. Make sure you set your phone to turn off while plugged in. Also turning down the brightness will help.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

you cant have "burn in" on an LCD, there is nothing to "burn". on CRT, rear-projection and plasma tvs they actually etch or burn the screen where the image is displayed or projected. a LCD is a series of "doors" that open and close in a manner that when the backlight passes through these open "doors" our brain puts it together as an image.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

LCDs can burn in like that, though it isn't a permanent burn like it would be on a CRT. The correct term for it in this case isn't burn in though, but rather image persistence. With normal use, the 'burn in' should fade out fairly quickly. If it bugs you that much, make sure your screen doesn't sit displaying the unlock screen for long periods of time. Letting the phone display a white image for a while should also make it disappear. It's not worth returning the phone over in the slightest, and the same issue will occur on any phone you get. Unless you let it display ONLY the unlock screen for like... years without changing, it isn't permanent.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

Yeah I may have had the option to have the screen dim when locked or something. pretty stupid feature if it's that bad for the screen. Gonna wait and see if it goes away but other than that it will happen on a new phone too. I can see the top and bottom bars on the screen too. Also I didn't mean that LCD's don't burn in. I mean It seems harder to get some image retention on my plasma. Just seemed odd still a great phone.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

I got to thinking on this one and I don't know if it would help but might it make sense to try to break in these screens a little when they are new. I'm no expert on LCD displays but I do know that on my plasma I had to be extra careful when it was new to break it in with no static images for the first 50 hours of use.

I don't know if it would make sense to run some sort of test pattern program for a couple nights on a new phone when it's charging or something just to break in the screen evenly and possibly reduce the IR.

Just a thought like I said before the Image Retention is not killer but it is there.

Anyone out there know of a small test pattern program that might run on out phones? I could give it a shot and see if it helps any at least.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

Uh. Seriously, there is no such thing as LCD burn in.

Plasma, yes.

LCD, no.

http://compreviews.about.com/od/moni.../LCDBurnIn.htm

Even persistence is unlikely unless you somehow left the screen on for a week or more with a static image.

It is very unlikely for a consumer to have this happen as it is more likely to happen in a fixed display such as those seen as display boards for businesses that do not change.

Re: Touch Pro Screen Burn In

I concur, LCDs do not burn in, but a quick question, do people really leave the screen on when they're not using it?? It seems to me that if you just put the thing to sleep the problem is solved. (and it significantly improves battery life)

+ 1 for making the phone sleep when not in use.
