They work it's just that the pro won't detect it as a known battery so your battery indicator doesn't work. Mine has been off the charger for > 10 hrs now. It's showing 1 % the whole time. I think it's perfectly fine as a back up battery. Maybe someone can find a battery driver for it.

So the UNKNOWN battery from lasted from 11PM yesterday to 11PM today. I wonder if there is anyway to make the Pro detect this battery. I think it works fine.

wierd...I wish HTC would release a bigger battery... that would be reconized by the TP.

I listed the unknown battery issue in my eBay feedback to the seller. We have swapped a few emails about it since then, but I don't know if he will or can do anything about it.

I purchased 2 batteries from a US company; www.Needbatteries.com on Monday for $12.95, they now have them at $24 each.

This is a BA-E270 battery @ 1350 mAh and also fits the GSM versions of both the Touch and Touch Pro as well as the AT&T Tilt, Kaisers and the TYTN II.

As soon as I get them I will post here to let you know how they work. The site states 'compatibility' with these phones.

I did talk to HTC's accessory group which is really www.Letstalk.com and they said that Sprint did not buy the battery from HTC but from an OEM and that they cannot even sell you one for a Sprint Pro! Sprint wants to do that! However, they are not listed on the Sprint Accessory site and the repair stores do not even have any yet either - as of Monday.

They also do HTC's warrenty work in the US. He also said that the larger 2000 mAh GSM batteries by a company mentioned above seem to be involved with some motherboards going bad. They cannot track it directly to the battery but the batteries are definately involved. Needless to say if that happens I would not mention the 3rd party battery . . . .

I just picked up a Diamond cradle with spare battery charger for $25 from a US dealer so I can have it in time for a trip to Vegas next week and I know I'm not going to last longer than 10 hours on 1 battery.

I would have done one of those deals on eBay, but most are coming from HK/China and could take 7 - 10 days (that is if everything goes well through Customs).

So where do we get one for the Pro..a good one that works well. I have an extra battery so no need for that.

Man, the "grey" market for cell phone accessories is something else.

I remember (for example) when the Samsung WEP200s were being grey marketed left and right and people were ending up with poorly performing fakes all over the place.

These cheap batteries are definitely counterfeit. Hell, a LOT of batteries on ebay are counterfeits. I personally wouldn't let one within 10 feet of my phone, but whatever makes you guys happy. :P
