G-Light light sensor adjustment tool

Just found this: http://gadgetmix.com/index/?p=1109

It was written for the Diamond. It dos not work on my Touch Pro, but when it does, it will be a big help to saving battery power. In my testing, the backlight is one of the top battery consumers.

It installs and the program runs and lets me change the settings, but it does not adjust the backlight (yet).

Re: G-Light light sensor adjustment tool

Just wanted to let everyone know that a new version (0.2) has been release and it now works on my TP. I need to play around with the settings a little to reflect my personal minimum backlight levels, but this should result in a measurable battery life improvement (as long as you are not always in a very bright environment.)

Re: G-Light light sensor adjustment tool

Why not just disable it completely? I am able to have the backlight at 40% - 50% and still use it indoors and out without any problems.

With my Mogul I used spb mobile shell to manually adjust my backlight.

The difference between 10% and 40% could be a few hours of battery life on one charge.

In my opinion, in a dark environment (movies, bed, at night while at a stop light, ...) 40% is unnecessarily bright. In a bright environment (outside during the day in Texas and Florida) 40% is practically useless, as a matter of fact, 100% is not as visible as I would like, but it is what it is.

At the end of the day this is a convenient feature that in many cases will save battery power.

What settings do you have in the program?

I'm still playing with the settings.

My current settings are:
1) 0,24
2) 25,59
3) 60,140
4) 141,200
5) 201,250
6) 251,300
7) 301,360
361,449
9) 450,600
10) 600,1000

But I feel these cause the backlight to hunt (adjust) too much

I'm trying new settings right now
1) 0,14
2) 15,59
3) 60,140
4) 141,200
5) 201,300
6) 301,379
7) 380,449
450,549
9) 550,649
10) 650,1000

They seem to be a little better, but still hunting too much.
I'm thinking of trying to split the settings so that there are fewer steps. I really only need three or four. To do that I'll try something like this:

1) 0,1
2) 2,3
3) 4,299
4) 300,301
5) 302,303
6) 303,449
7) 450,451
452,599
9) 600,601
10) 602,1000

Re: G-Light light sensor adjustment tool

I can't disable it. I uncheck Unabled, click Save options and then click Exit (which doesn't work...) so I then click OK. I go back in and it's still enabled...

Tried your settings, walked outside and the screen stayed pretty dark (like level 1 or 2)

Guess I'll have to keep playing with it.

I don't want to redirect people to another site (I find it easier to follow things on PPCGeeks) but the developer is tracking issues here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440665
