My old hx4700 could handle those kinds of files with no issue at all - the touch pro with newer decoding hardware should be able to handle it too. Just have to wait I guess.
i sure hope.....how would we know if they update the coreplayer?

They always announce new updates on their website and note all changes/enhancements made to the new version or build.

Re: xvid using coreplayer still skips a bit on tp

i've been using a software called Free3GPVideoConverter. worked very good with the mogul, and works the same with the regular tp video player. if you're interested here's a link. use the video to ipod converter on high quality

Re: xvid using coreplayer still skips a bit on tp

Try this...

Menu > Tools > Colors > Native

That sped things up quite a bit on my Diamond

If you're still getting some lag and it annoys the crap out of you, try to set the video to Medium quality until the guys at Coreplayer release a new, Diamond/Pro/MSM7501a optimized version.

Re: xvid using coreplayer still skips a bit on tp

My old dell axim x51v is VGA and plays flawlessly on TCPMP (coreplayer) for almost all files (except 1080p/1080i files which show some stutter).

TCPMP has HW video acceleration for the X51V. Its not about pushing VGA # of pixels, its about code optimization. HTC diamond/TP/HD have video acceleration like the x51v...but I am guessing the latest coreplayer doesn't support it.

I was surprised to see lag in coreplayer.

I second this. This phone is too powerful to not be able to run these type of files decently. Most of the vids i have are below 640*640 res and they still skip.

It seems like theres a problem with the drivers still. If you go into opera mobile or even opera mini and drag the screen while in landscape mode, you'll notice some diagonal tearing. Im sure its related to drivers.
