I've had many WM phones before (Mogul, Touch, Treo, Moto Q9c) and I used to enjoy hacking and tweaking as well. I guess thats the beauty of WM but now I just like a phone that works well out the box. Between my job and 3 year old son i dont have as much time as I used to to spend hours finding hacks and programs to do certian things. I dont mind doing a few customizations but for something like earpiece volume, that shouldnt need to be hacked. thats something that should already work well

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I can speak from experience that the Treo is a better phone. It's a phone 1st and a PDA 2nd. The Apache, Mogul and Touch pro are a PDA first and phone 2nd.

I've had a Treo 600, 650, 700p and 700wx. There is no competition between the two on one handed use. However, despite that, I prefer these types of phones because of the power of customization. Palm really dropped the ball with ROM updates on many of the past models I had while HTC has been great.

It all depends on your needs and comfort of use.

Back to the subject, I will be keeping my TP. I've gotten most of my button functions back with AE Button Plus, so I'm happy.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I returned mine because when I bought it I didn't have the 20% off coupon printed from Best Buy. He said come back and we will give you the discount as a credit. Went back but the Best Buy Mobile manager said the 20% off was for new 2 year contracts only. I told him it wasn't and that there were many others who got the 20% who were eligible for the 1 year phone upgrade. I said this new phone was extending my contract 1 more year for a total of 2 years left on my contract. The bonehead wouldn't budge, so I returned it for a full credit. Now they have to return the phone to HTC. Idiots should have just gave me the 20% I was promised.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

it's a keepa for me

so far I had no problems with it at all
Igo 8 works great no memory issues like I had with 6800

Few things I would change:

- phone calls sound quailty
- maybe rounded edges - feels funky when next to my ear
- bigger screen
- more buttons - I still dont understand why zoom center wheel cant be use as a scroll wheel in contacts or exloprer

other then that I'm happy

P.S

I got it for $199 so I LIKE

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

Ok I am starting to think either my earpiece is broken or no one else notices the metallic buzz that it has at any volume you might need to hear it, say outside.

This is awfull!!!!! I sure hope it is just this phone!!! I bought mine at best buy I hope this does not become an ordeal.
I am definitely taking mine back I sure hope I am the only one????

Also the camera is extremely slow taking over a second to respond to most of my screen taps?

Don't get me wrong this blows away the mogul doing everything it promised but HAY ITS a phone the speaker should not sound this bad! I'm regretting that I jumped on this a little now.

You said it. The Touch Pro makes the 800w look like it was made in 2004. The 800w has so many bugs too.

Hooray for HTC.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

I drove 30 minutes to a Best Buy to pick it up. I waited 30 minutes while they called Sprint to verify my 22 month discount. Waited about 15 more minutes to get a manager to authorize the 20% discount. I drove back 30 minutes when my check wouldn't clear and I realized my check card was at home. Drove BACK 30 more minutes with my check card (since the phone was already activated with my number sitting at the store) and bought the phone. Three hours later I was calling Sprint again because I could not access the Internet yet and we had to reset my profile to get it working. So.. yeah even if I hated this phone I would be keeping it. Fortunately I happen to love it. Voice command and a bluetooth headset makes up for a lack of buttons pretty well. Now I just need a new collection of software that maximizes the phones abilities.

Re: Anyone returning thier Touch Pros?

Yeah, totally keeping this one.
i'm more debating if i'm giong to keep touchflo 3d or kill it and put SPB mobile shell on there instead.
the -only- mobile shell issue i had was the device lock hung the device.
i've been trying to give touchflo a good chance. it's not all bad, although i'd like to remove the sprintTV tab. that doesn't seem to work all that well. seems like there may be a lingering display driver issue.
Oh, the vga resolution has rendered my mapquest navigator useless. don't want to pay for the sprint navigation, and google maps and live search don't do good turn-by-turn stuff.
oh well, overall, out of the park for me.
