Why is everything that's wrong with this phone being brushed aside as irrelevant? Just wait till reality sets in once your using it, bugs, flaw, missing features, patches needed, no buttons, etc., etc. Some folks are acting like starry-eyed kids in love with some actress from afar.

because you can easily do everything you can do with IR in bluetooth to any device made in the past 5 years? it didn't even work well as a remote (no software supports mogul afaik and the port isn't even powerful enough to use more than a few feet away). basically, bluetooth is the future for everything the IR port does and it works great (and faster/no direct LOS needed). IR takes up precious space in the device and also adds a little to the price of the device. It is completely unnecessary at this point.

you'll just have to start sending your topless photos via bluetooth I guess.... this phone has everything I want and then some - who cares about IR? it has >4x the memory, a faster processor, 2x the rom, graphics acceleration, vga, and tons more that is extra over the mogul - it really is the biggest upgrade we have seen in a long time.... of course I am starry eyed....

Re: Business Card reader & TV out..

True about the Mogul's IR, but the old Samsung i730 shows it could work properly if just brought up to that level again. And the Sammy had the software with it to use as a remote control, and it worked across the room. Haven't seen a Bluetooth remote control yet, and many other devices with Bluetooth don't support file transfer through Bluetooth. Also, how many digital cameras have Bluetooth? Only a couple or so were made, and now are hard to find. But a lot of them have IR file transfer, which makes it easy to transfer files to your phone to email them, or sync them to Dashwire.

I understand what you are saying but the majority of people see IR when compared to bluetooth as a regular serial port (SLOW O.O) vs USB.

I haven't used ir once on my mogul nor have I used bluetooth for anything besides an occasional headset use.

Excuse my ignorance, but can you transfer files using bluetooth? I've used the IR only for beaming a program to a friend or family member's phone that had a pda phone w/ IR.

Again, I'm totally ignorant about it, so I really have no clue about the answer.

Thx In Advance.

Didn't even know that. Would you mind pm'ing me a brief intro on how to do that?

Only way I would do it was either beaming it to another PPC/Smart device w/ infrared or email.

Thanks again.

Re: Business Card reader & TV out..

Lots of Bluetooth devices worth messing with usually have security..

IR on the other hand is just plain fun, printing to someone's printer.. But I did specially like using programs like Remote Commander. True many devices with IR have a very low signal or barely worked..

P.S. IR hacker, therefore I am?

Thanks again.
I got a USB Bluetooth dongle for my laptop from Amazon, receives files from phone very very fast. I use Resco Explorer and can send whole groups of files with one command
