Are the speeds of fast MicroSD usable?

Are the speeds of fast MicroSD usable? I work in IT and I use flash drives to update software and do backups of critical information at times. The slow speeds at which they write, and the difficulty of keeping track of them have me thinking about using one in my TP2 instead. However, will a fast MicroSD increase the speed as expected, or will the bottleneck end up being the TP2?

Haven't you seen the microSD to usb converters?

I actually got one with my 8gb card I purchased about a year ago for $20. Pretty handy, turns any mSD card into a USB flash drive basically. Installed Win7 using this method on a makes computer the other day because he doesn't have an optical drive.

With that said, I would imagine that using the TP2 as a mass storage device would slow it down over using that converter I mention above. I know my TP2 gets pretty freakin hot when I do a big file transfer. The drop in speed probably won't be significant, I'd just worry about the phone itself :p.

No, but I wanted it for phone use and not have to keep track of a USB key.

I didn't know that either since I've never tried it.

Thanks!

your in the TP1 forum btw lol

so your wanting to keep all these files on your TP2s SD card, to not need flash drives anymore??

Sd cards go upto 16GB class 10 and for 32GB class 4(?)...
Flash Drives can be upto like 52mb/s cant they(they dont use "class" i dont think)

I dont know if the TP2 has a "limit".. ie like you buy a class 10, but TP2 cant output more than 4 or 6.. there'd be your possible bottleneck your talking about... but if this isnt limited, the only thing that should limit you: would be the "class" of the SD card..

EDIT - i have a flash drive just to put movies on from my laptop, to use on XBOX360(no need for burning dvds) and its write speed is terrrrrible... its between 2-4mb/s write speed.. takes over 10minutes to put 2 or 3 gigs worth of movies... when i put them on my sd card though, its much faster because its a class 6 card, and i usually pulls 7s of it...

That's really too bad. But yes, that's pretty much the gist of it. I don't want to spend a ton to go fast if it won't help.
