Verizon HTC Touch Pro
 

I just bought this phone from eBay. I plan on using it with MetroPCS. Currently it has no service. I like playing around with it and I see that I can put WM6.5 on it, which is what I'm wanting to do.

I'm trying to follow along with some tutorials here to 'unlock' it though some of it is rather confusing. I'm new to all of this stuff.

My question is when some these ROM's say for "Verizon" phone only, is it meaning whatever provider is named on the front? My Touch Pro has the Verizon logo. (As I'm writing this, I realize it may be a horribly retarded question, but I just want to make sure... Just got this, you know? Don't want to botch the thing on the first day...)

Verizon TouchPro's are different model than the other carriers.
It is called the RAPH500. Sprint and the other CDMA carriers issue the RAPH800.

The main difference is that the VZW (RAPH500) has less ram in it than the RAPH800.

Also Verizon will only activate a phone that is already in their ESN database. Others have managed to get get it activated but it has always seemed to be a hit or miss proposition.

Bottom line is if you want to use the phone on Verizon it has to be a Verizon branded TPro and the account that was associated with it must be clear and paid to date.

This is a big problem people face when buying a phone on Ebay!

A VZW TP rom can be flashed to just about any TP (exception GSM units)
and if the phone is a RAPH500 you can flash most of the popular roms without major issues provided you use the Pagepool changer to reduce the pagepool of the ROM to bet 6-8 MB

Sorry Itchy submit trigger....

You should really read three or four times the tutorials that are floating around here about flashng your TP.

You need to HardSPL (and use the verizon SPL) the phone before you flash. This will allow the bootloader to be accessed by the flash utility.

Then download the rom and flash.

Remember to *228 1 and after reboot *228 2 to reprogram the phone for data and text and update the PRL.

But don't go crazy trying to get a Massive pack ROM. With the VZW memory limitations your better off starting with a lite rom and adding just the stuff you really intend to use.

As you get more experienced with Flashing (and what you would LIKE on the phone) you can graduate to using a Kitchen that will allow you to select which programs get cooked into the rom and customize it to fit your needs perfectly.

With a VZW Raph500 less is definitly more!
