Sync problems!!!!!!!!

I am about to loose my mind... i have tried everything i can think of but my phone will not connect with my computer! i have vista, and this is my second touch pro, not sure if that has anything to do with it. But WMDC does not recognize it! WMDC just says not connected! ive uninstalled/reinstalled a million times!!
help!!

Have you tried a different USB cable?
Also have you gone to Settings, Connections, USB to PC and make sure that ActiveSync is selected?

also have you gone to Settings, Connections, USB to PC and make sure that "Enable faster data syncronization" is turned off? alot of people have issues with this setting.
