Cannot Reinstall WifiRouter v.0.98
 

Had problem with this app when my WIndows 7 laptop would not connect to it....just got a yellow exclamation mark suddenly and kaput....was working fine before..

now just trying to reinstall and running cab file yields '"installation of WMWifiRouter.CAB was unsuccessful"

any ideas on how to resolve this? at this point, i just want to reinstall this app...

did you uninstall the prior version?

I try..but its says uninstallation was unsuccessful..

Are you uninstalling it from the add/remove programs on the phone or thru ActiveSync?

on your pc? you'll need to do it from your phone. settings> system> remove programs

I tried..but i get:

Error box: Jorrit Jongma WMWifiRouter was not completely removed. DO you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?

YES--NO

I click on YES......just goes back to the Remove Programs screen with the program listed in the box.

here is some good info from people with similar issues (some with wmwifirouter too). there are alot of good suggestions in there.


in the end if all else fails your looking at a hard-reset to fix this issue. but if your really trying to avoid that, there are some programs (sktools for example) listed in this thread that may be of help. you'll also want to use something like total commander to goto the programs folder and delete the actual folder for the program if it is still there, then look for the registry settings for it.

excellent tips from everyone!....SKTools did the trick! i was able to remove it 'completely' from m HTC Touch PRO and re-install.

Its working again! Im able to use my phone as the wifi hotspot and get to sites banned from work.

lol what have i done? i hope you don't find yourself in trouble browsing sites not authorized by your employer lol.
