wm6.5.x and calkulin's visiual kitchen questions

So I am trying my hand at making my first rom (basically for my own needs). My last phone had mightrom (whichever version was wm6.1) and it worked very well, but I thought it might be time for me to upgrade to wm6.5.x. Since this is my first time using it, there are some differences that I am trying to work through and find solutions for, and I could use a hand in figuring out what the best solution is.

So I tried to make the most basic functioning 6.5.x rom I could. I have noticed there is no task manager in the upper right corner anymore. When I tried to load the HTC Task Manager, it appears, but I can touch it because the existing top menu bar is there and pops up those options. Since what I want is something like the HTC Task Manager, should I find a way to disable/change the existing top menu bar, or is there a better solution? BTW - the X button in the lower right, although configured to quit the program, doesn't actually quit the program.

When S2U2 pops from being dormant, I slide to go back to to the phone and whatever program that was running is now gone as it has gone back to the today screen. Without the HTC Task Manager, I haven't figured out an easy way to get back to what I was working on.

During a call, the screen shows a button at the bottom that says "Keypad", however, when I press it, a menu pops up. How do I get a keypad to appear?


I would appreciate any help here as I am not even sure what to search for. Thanks.

Replace HTC Task Manager with ArkSwitch.

Are you using a dialer skin? On the Windows dialer, there is a button with 9 little boxes which is used for the keypad.
