Randomly stopped being able to establish activesync connection

Brand new [refurb] was working stock, unlock+custom flash successful, everything worked, then, seemingly randomly:

Unable to connect activesync (specifically WMDC) via USB (bluetooth sync works). it charges through USB just fine though.

I run SKI-ROM, windows mobile 6.5, CE OS 5.2.28011 (Build 28011.5.5.0)

I read all the other posts people made about not being able to connect, and tried all the suggestions in the replies:

Tried multiple computers

"Enable faster data synchronization" is disabled (although it worked before when this was checked)

Tried different cables.

Tried a hard reset.

I am beginning to think the two data rails of the extUSB port on the phone simply stopped working for some reason. I have insurance and all that, so I would just have to flash to stock+relock via SD card I guess.

**update**

Usually when any device is connected/removed, the Device Manager has to refresh to denote the change in configuration of the hardware. However, when I connect the TP, it does not refresh. This leads me to believe it isn't a simple case of "device not recognized" (e.g. a driver issue), but an actual problem with the physical connection.

Oh and whenever I soft reset while USB is plugged in, it enters bootloader mode (tricolor screen) and the computer cycles between "USB device not recognized" and "Device Disconnected" (plays windows sounds "device connected" and "Device disconnected" repeated endlessly). Not sure if this is intended functionality, or another aspect of the problem I am having.

I have had similar issue, what I did was delete the moblile device with active and reconnect going thru the connect steps when you first have activesync.

Pretty sure those are the same, just different wording for different versions of winmo (or winpho i guess now...)

and @LayLay: deleted device and plugged in, still won't establish connection.

I'll update first post.

Re: Randomly stopped being able to establish activesync connection

Thats what I was trying to say with the quotes. "Enable Faster Data Syncronization" is under the same settings directory (Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC) as your "Enable advanced network functionality"

Re: Randomly stopped being able to establish activesync connection

I had a similar issue that was strictly an ActiveSync issue on my work laptop. Re-imaged and it went away.

BUT, you said you have tried different cables and different PC's, so that shouldn't be the issue.

If you look in the usb port, do you see any bent pins? You may be able to unbend them and fix it. Otherwise, it sounds like a flash back to stock and a visit to Sprint is in order.

Re: Randomly stopped being able to establish activesync connection

It could be the wire. The TP USB wire looks nice and very stylish but the ends of it get real messed up. I have 4 OEM USB wires and they are all messed up. The phone charges but my laptop won't recognize it using the same USB wire. So I now have another wire to sync my phone with my laptop and keep it safe.
