how to keep screen locked when initiating a BlueTooth call?

When my phone is locked (and paired with the car's bluetooth stereo), and a call comes in, the screen stays locked. This is great because I can answer it with my car's BT unit and never take the phone out of my pocket and no buttons get accidentally pressed. But, if I *initiate* a call from the car's BT unit, the phone app comes up and during the call the screen is responsive to presses even though it was locked (although it does go back to the locked state after the call is over). This is terrible because I've had stuff changed accidentally by my jacket's contacting the screen while it's in a pocket during a BT call.

Does anyone have any idea how to keep it in the locked (screen unresponsive) state when initiating calls by BT?

Pocketshield... it has options to protect during BT calls. Really cheap, best app out there.

InCall Screen Tweak (auto screen on/off during call) should do the trick

This app automatically turns the screen on giving access to the in call functions when the phone is not up to your ear, and then turns the screen off when you put it back up to your ear."

my problem is that when a BT call is initiated, the screen becomes responsive to button presses. I want the screen to stay locked if it was locked when the call came in, and be unlockable by a swipe of the "unlock" slider only. Does this do that? Maybe I'm slow today... I am not concerned if the screen lights up or not; in fact, it sounds right to have it lit up when a call comes in so that I can see the slider and unlock it by swiping if the thing isn't in my pocket or bag. Can this be made to work that way?

Thanks,

Mike

I'm sorry I meant to add that it also has settings for BT behavior, as well as a don't unlock setting. Which I hope will do the trick for you.

aha! does "switch off" mean the screen goes dark or that it becomes unresponsive to touching?

It just shut the screen off, not the device. And yes the screen won't respond to touching.

Two questions:

1) does it work after the standard LOCK (or inactivity sleep) or is there a special lock executable that you use to activate this? The other program (PocketShield) had its own LOCK that you had to activate to lock it and use its settings.

2) I think what it does when the BlueTooth call is initiated is unlock the screen, bring up the phone app (during which time the screen is active), and darken the screen about 2-3 seconds later. Is that normal? Any way to keep it from ever activating the screen?

thanks!

Mike
