After New Sprint Stock Rom Update, Internet Sharing not working
 

I updated my Sprint Touch Pro to the new Rom update from HTC for the Touch Pro (available since September 2009). I went and deleted the registry entry as usual, the Forced Cell Connection, in the Internet Sharing registry and the internet sharing works (can choose Sprint as connection method). However, when you restart the phone the registry is returned to normal and the Forced Cell Connection registry is back,...??? This happens everytime the phone is restarted. Has anyone had this problem and figured out what needs to be done to stop this from returning to the phone? Any help on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just make sure that the Forcedcelconnection key matches the name of your internet connection on the phone. For instance, they both need to say "Sprint" or "Sprint PCS

The problem is not getting it to connect but staying that way after you take the phone off and put it on again. Whenever you do this the phone fixes the modified or deleted registry items. How do you stop this from occuring?

Sorry I can't be of more help. I just followed those tips, and it's been working fine for me. I never checked the registry after fixing it because it continued to work fine.

Are you familiar with mortscript? You could write a script that changes the registry settings to what works, and then put the script in the startup items.

Or more easily, make a reg file with the changes and drop that in the startup items. I think that would work too.

I am not familiar with doing either of those things but I could learn. Thanks for the help. I will try to research adding a registry startup item.

But if you don't mind me asking how do you make a file to load at startup that changes a registry item? What program and any help would be appreciated. I am new to all of this.

Install the cab HTC_CM_KILLER (thanks to Shaggylives)

It has something to do with the guardian program that rewrites the regedits back to original. The cab fixes it so it won't rewrite it back.

that cab above, replaces the cm gardian file witha dummy file... the tethering cab in my sig link worked just fine for me when i got to the upgrade rom

Your cab didn't work for me, after the new ROM. Even after running the cab, the registry changes just switched right back. ShaggyLive's cab fixed it, though.
