My phones keyboard won't respond half the time?
 

It does it on every ROM I use, so that doesn't matter. The lights come on when I press it, but nothing happens in the phone. Then when I put the keyboard in and go to type, the little keyboard button in the bottom bar of the phone is gone, so I end up restarting after 6 texts.

Please help... this is really annoying. I have noticed the phone has been slow as well, so I use MemMaid.

Since no ROM has been able to fix your issue, it is very likely that your problem is hardware related. If you have any kind of insurance I recommend you use at this time and replace your phone.

This problem is pretty common among TP users and seems to be related to a certain ribbon cable coming loose inside the phone. If you dont have insurance/warranty and feel brave, you could attempt to fix it yourself by opening the phone and reseating the cable which may fix your issue but this procedure will void any warranty or insurance and can be difficult (which may actually require you to have a fall back phone if the procedure fails).

try pressing on the bottom or top of the keyboard. some have reported that this will prove if its a hardware issue. if you press and it works then its time for a new phone.

i have this problem as well and pressing on the bottom of the kb didnt work. at first i thought it was rom related but it didnt work on stock rom either so i knew it was hardware related. tell me how it goes for u. i'll prob try to get sprint to replace my phone. if not, then asurion but sprint first for sure

if your phone is less than 1 year old then its covered under HTC's warranty. go to the sprint store and tell them about it and they should either give you a new TP or have a phone shipped to you, probably a refurb, free of charge.

warranty it out! i just did mine and am expecting my replacement to be arriving tomorrow.

yes. i had the exact same issue. keyboard would stop responding or would just grasp onto a random key and start repeating itself 50 times as if it was stuck on that key. i asked them if i should pull out the keyboard and reseat it and they were very insistent i not do that and they will gladly do a swap for me lol. since my tp was brand new, they are shiipping me a brand new unit and not a refurb. wohoo!

Thanks for all the replies, but my phone was bought off of eBay since my old touch took a little swim. How do I know if HTC will cover it?

The paper on the battery and back of the phone is blood shot red, as well. It never came in contact with water, though. Is this a bad thing?
