mic in htc usb converter
I just used the HTC converter thingy to be able to plug in my 3.5mm jack into the car.
It's the one I got with my diamond, I didn't get one with my TP as it was an e-bay purchase. I tried to make a call and the other end could not hear me, no mic action. I thought there was a mic in the converter block? If there isn't, why did this set up work fine with my diamond, but not the TP? Is there a seting I can change to keep the phone mic switched on when the converter is plugged in and it takes over audio out duties? |
Re: mic in htc usb converter
I'm guessing it is because of the way the headset mode is set: it is possible that the connector has 4 terminals: L, R and mic. Since we only use L and R for audio output and no mic the phone assumes that the headset would have the missing one and disconnects the onboard mic (since the headset mic will pick up a better signal). Most phones can do this (use the onboard mic) , it is really odd that HTC did not think about this since it is a easily detectable condition.

Re: mic in htc usb converter
what you say makes sense, but, I used the same set up with the diamond and it worked fine?!
Anyone know how I can tell the unboard mic to stay active when the HTC converter unit is plugged in? |
