New ALLTEL Touch Pro HELP Needed Please

Today I got my 3rd Touch Pro after 2 crappy ones failed me. The other 2 came loaded with the newer ROM from Alltel. The newest phone is loaded with the older stock ROM 10/9/08 instead of the new one. My question is should I instantly install the new ROM or hold off. If I should install the new one, can someone please direct me to a place where I can get the new ROM and step by step directions to installing it? I have never flashed a ROM to a phone before. I'm a bit uncomfortable attempting this. Thanks for all your help.

Its a program you run on your desktop. It has all the instructions and prompts you through the entire process. Real simple.

Thanks for the help. However, Alltel has pulled their support for the Touch Pro. I get the following message:

cuppa-coffee, if GPS is important to you I humbly suggest you flash a different radio than the 1.12.20F that comes with that newer ROM of Alltel's. (Check Settings -> Device Info -> Software Information to confirm radio version.)

For some reason GPS is horribly crippled with that radio. You can find others here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=74422 They don't hard-reset your device like ROM flashing does.

I use 1.12.34F personally, but others may work as good or better for you and your location.

Search the Touch Pro forums for "1.12.20F GPS" for results of the many people griping about GPS issues with that radio (you'll find my own success story in there).

Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate the info. I will try the new radio once I become comfortable messing with the phone. I've just now gotten brave enough to install an updated weather .cab file !!
