Battery Life

Hey folks... I know I risk sounding redundant asking this question... And I have done several searches regarding battery life, but can't seem to find a rom that is Battery Friendly...

So the question... What would anyone/everyone recommend that is battery friendly that is a current rom? I'm currently running Energy's Rom, but the battery doesn't seem to make it more than about 7 hours before it's shot... Then back on the damn charger.

Thanks
Tim

Actually, I pulled it off the charger this morning at 7am, and it's just before noon now, and the battery is down to 25%... I am running the Energy Rom 28005. Really crappy battery...

Are you in an area with weak signal? Do you have your data connection constantly on?

Both will cause the Touch Pro to use more resources. Try flashing a different radio to get a better signal.

Short answer: If you're in an area with weak signal no matter what radio you're using, you will never have a good battery life. That is, unless you just put it into airplane mode.

Energy Rom is very pretty, but when I've tried it, it absolutely kills the battery. Try NFSfan's rom's, they're fairly good on batterly life and also contain a host of features. Calkulin's roms look great and strike a decent balance on battery life and have a few more apps included, although the battery life is not as good as NFSfan's. In the tools folder in Cal's. rom, there is another folder called battery, make sure you run the battery saving cab in that folder.

Other things to keep in mind:
1)Push e-mail takes a lot of power
2)Using your phone excessively will kill it quite quickly
3)Using the browser a lot (or any networking app that uses data) will cut down the battery life.
4)Any program that is CPU-intensive will kill the battery quicker.

I guess the point is this, don't use Energy ROM if you want battery life and use the phone and it's features in moderation if you are not hooked up to a charger.

To put it into perspective, I get 14-18 hours of batterly life with MSN always on, Myphone set to sync once a day, push e-mail active, and moderate usage of the phone (playing a few games, a few calls, texts, the browser a few times a day). If wanted to, I can use my battery up within an hour (try running a torrent application and wifi router at the same time if you don't care about your battery :p).

What motorius said...

I have 3 email accounts, one is an exchange account that used to suck my battery dry on heavy email traffic days.

I now have activesync setup to only update every 15 minutes during peak hours and I have it set to manually update after peak hours. I also no longer download attachments automatically and I limit the email size to 20k... although this sounds restrictive I haven't noticed that it has limited the usability for me. It has given me consistent battery life. I run NFS's rom and I pull the phone off the charger at 6am and put it back on at 10pm... I'm usually at 40% battery (although I'll admit I'm not a heavy user).

I did try out energyrom, I was typically down to 20% or less battery by the end of the day... nice looking ROM though.
