Cool VZ Navigator on cooked ROMs

OK, so there are about 500 posts on this spread out all over the place. Apparently VZ Navigator doesn't work on cooked ROMs. But then others say, "Oh, so-and-so has it working, it works for me," etc. So what's the deal? Does it work? Can it be made to work?

And before you start, yes, it costs money. It's actually quite good. It has up-to-date maps (downloaded over the air), local search, gas prices, movie times, traffic, detours around traffic, weather, turn-by-turn directions, and text-to-speech for the directions.

That said, if there's something that offers the same features (with the exception of live maps, since from what I've read none of the others do that) I'm open to alternatives. I've heard good things about CoPilot Live 8, but I remember all the stuff they were promising kept getting pushed back and not released. It's currently $25 right now, though, so that's a pretty good price and I'd go for that if it offers the same features as VZ Navigator (I don't know if it does).

Re: VZ Navigator on cooked ROMs

It's a signed cab so I think it only works with the stock rom. I've had the same problem. Extremely annoying--VZ Nav is a must have for me so I can't flash any custom roms.

+1

Hopefully VZ will release their WM6.5 ROM update soon and solve this problem...

Don't waste you money on that crap. Used it 2 times and went back to my true gps apps.

Care to share which navigation app you went to and why?

Re: VZ Navigator on cooked ROMs

Guess this is hopeless. Anyone with experience with both VZNav and CoPilot 8? Or something else? I want to flash a custom ROM, but I need a comparable navigation app first.

Re: VZ Navigator on cooked ROMs

Has anyone tried using the version from the Imagio? I'm asking because the Imagio uses wm 6.5 and most custom roms have 6.5. I haven't been able to find VZ Nav from the Imagio though.

Re: VZ Navigator on cooked ROMs

Why would anyone pay for gps when there are so many free versions.
