Anyone use TP2 oversea on SIM data plan and tether?

Has anyone use their Touch Pro 2 oversea and use other country SIM prepaid with data plan?

Does the data work on your TP2?

Did you tether to your laptop and it work too?

I am going back to my country next week and I will put my Sprint TP2 thru all the test.

I am going to put TomTom7 and Garmin XT to the test too. I got local maps for it.

If you done it, let me know.

It should work. Sprint tp2 is sim unlocked for international carrier except usa sim carrier and yes data will work too.. u will have gprs/edge .. I have Blackberry 8830 international phone from sprint.. which I've used over seas.. you just have to buy the monthly plan.. I am from Bangladesh I used it last year.. this year taking my tp2 .. so dont worry you will be fine...

Re: Anyone use TP2 oversea on SIM data plan and tether?

I used my Verizon CDMA in Mexico on the GSM sim and tethering worked fine.

Unfortunately, they only had 1xRT data service available.

Not sure but I think HSPA+ should work on the phones non NA HSPA settings; 2100 Mhz; (IF the carrier provides 3G settings compatible with TP2 3G settings that is!)

What software do you all use?

Will wmwifirouter work on it?

The part I dont understand is that say like for Sprint, you have to put in a #777.

Dont you have to do this when you are in foreign country for whatever dialup it is?

You just have to create a new connection. The company you will use they have there own dial out number for internet. They will give it you. I had to do that with my bb8830..

Re: Anyone use TP2 oversea on SIM data plan and tether?

I see. Because I got the data plan for the SIM card, they will configure all that for me right and they had the info.

Once that is done and if I can surf on the TP2, then it will 100% work with the tethering. I guess in wmwifirouter there is a drop down for the carrier you want and you just pick the new one.

Is the 'create new connection' at on the TP2 at Settings-Connections tab-Connections-Add a new modem Connection. There?

What tethering software did you use?
