Data access while talking on the phone

Today I saw a TV commercial for the iPhone 3Gs. In the commercial they showed how the iPhone can simultaneously access several different web based applications while talking on the phone without ever disconnecting. In an obvious "slap back" at Verizon for some their previous ads blasting AT&T's 3G coverage, at the end of the commercial they asked can your "network" or phone do this?
I'm guessing that the iPhone is not the only device capable of this. Is this a GSM only feature or is this possible on CDMA. Has anybody in Sprint 4G areas tried this? Hopefully if not this will motivate Sprint to make this feature available.

Re: Data access while talking on the phone

There was another thread about this before (1 day ago).
The answer is this feature is only available on GSM and not CDMA.
It is a technology thing. But other GSM phones can do this (including the GSM version of the TP2 - i.e. AT&T and T-Mobile)
Therefore, you don't have this feature on Sprint (CDMA).
But you can be on the phone and access wifi at the same time.
There are no 4G phones out yet, so who knows if this will be available in the future.
