USB Charge only, no sync

Any way to setup the TP2 to CHARGE ONLY thru USB cable and disallow syncing all together from USB?

(From PC and not using charger)

Re: USB Charge only, no sync

Are you sync'ing via bluetooth or IR? If not, then I suppose you could just uninstall (or not install) AS altogether.

Yes, in Active Sync, you can change the settings to no Sync. Then when you plug in the phone to the pc, it will not actually sync. You will get the prompt on your phone but nothing actually gets synced. If you have Vista or 7, check with Microsoft support site.

Re: USB Charge only, no sync

Here's the catch. On my office computer, if I plug it in, it'll still try to install drivers-WHICH IS BAD.

No outlets available either. (don't ask)

I was considering cutting the middle 2 pins on a USB cable and allow for charging only, but figured I'd check for a software solution first.

On the palm pre, when you plug it in to usb cable it asks-charge only, drive mode, etc. I was hoping for a similar situation.

At home of course, I want sync and all the goodies.

Re: USB Charge only, no sync

In active sytem,if your turn of allow USB connection does in still want to install drivers? If so, then you want to get a USB cable for charge only. I have one that came with a external battery charger. I would good MINI USB Cable for Charge only.

Re: USB Charge only, no sync

Nice find. Thats EXACTLY what I was looking for. I'd have preferred a software option, but for that price, that works.
