[BOUNTY] To whoever can find a fix for this...

FIX POSTED HERE:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...8&d=1257961616

With each and every 6.5 cooked rom I have tried, I have seen the same bug in each and every one and I am offering a reward to whomever can find a confirmed fix for this. I have confirmed this happens after a hard reset without installing any other programs/fixes.

The problem: Phantom Messaging Window

When the problem is seen: When automatically sending/receiving e-mail.

Symptom: A blank "Messaging" window appears covering the screen and remains until the user either closes it or taps the screen. This will happen at random times when the phone checks for e-mail and will block incoming alerts until the window is closed or there is some other user action which causes the window to close.

Dude, its probably from something you install. I've never seen this, although I've seen a few posts about it. I wouldn't want to see you lose your cash over something like that.

My phone checks pop3 email every hour and i've never seen a phantom window. I'm running Mightyrom btw. Since you say it is on every 6.5 rom, its probably something you install on every rom. Some tiny tweak that you don't think could be related is probably doing it.

What are you installing..exactly?

Like what apristel said, it might be something that you might have installed. I've been running 6.5 and 6.5.1 on my TP2 and I haven't noticed any phantom message boxes at all (I got phone to check three mail accounts every 2 hours). Try disabling the message on screen popup, perhaps that's what's causing it? You could also try hard resetting and pulling out the battery for a minute or two after hard resetting.

Also, did this ever happen to you in 6.1?

This always happens to me on 6.5, even with my TP. Even with a clean rom.

I have to agree with apristel.

Are you in the messaging app at the time this occurs, or manilla, or doesn't it matter i.e. it pops this up no matter what was on the screen?

Are you using the phone when this happpens or is it off at the time, and thereofre when you turn it on you see this phantom screen?

Have you tried flashing a custom 6.5 rom and not adding any custom cabs to see if this still happens e.g. flash, clear storage (as is normally recommended after a flash), set up your pop settings, and then just see if the problem occurs?

How are you setting up your pop accounts in the very first place...manually or via some sort of cab / xml provisioning?

When the problem is seen: When automatically sending/receiving e-mail.

Symptom: A blank "Messaging" window appears covering the screen and remains until the user either closes it or taps the screen. This will only happen the SECOND time the phone automatically checks for e-mail. The first time will have no messaging window, but the second time and each time thereafter the window will appear.

My settings: Automatic Send/Receive (any interval) / Audible Alert / LED flash for 30 minutes / Display Message On Screen

I have already tried every possible combination of changing check intervals, notification settings etc. This bug has plagued each and every 6.5 rom I have used on every phone I have had (Touch Pro 1 / Touch Pro 2).

I am offering $100 to whoever can find a working fix for this. If you need more details, PM me.

i agree with everyone else i have never seen this blank screen!!

Unfortunately, even after a fresh hard reset and only adding an e-mail account, I get this problem. No programs installed at all, No registry tweaks or other fixes.

Try moving all of your email out of your inbox in to a folder that does not sync. This will rule out some sort of corrupt message in your inbox causing the problem. I have had this with calendar items from 1999 causing all sorts of problems until I found and deleted them.

If this works, a simple thank you would suffice. If not, I would keep looking at your mailbox as you have stated that you have tried different ROMS. Software you are installing would be the other more obvious answer.
