Sprint Force Roaming Cab
This was shown to me by PokerPot! Credit to Him!!
Here is a description of forced roaming: If you're in a poor signal area, your phone will switch over to a different network to allow you to make the call. This is great, but the problem is that as soon as it senses even a faint Sprint signal, your phone will jump back on to the weaker spring signal resulting in more dropped calls and poor call quality. What forced roaming allows you to do is to stay on the stronger signal network. Your phone will disregard trying to get back on the Sprint while you're on the call. Very useful. Unfortunately it only works on Sprint as far as I know! Here is how you add it to Sprint: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\InitProv\PhoneSett ing Change the ItemCount to 3 Add a String Value called "ItemName3" with the string being "Roaming Only" Add a DWORD called "ItemValue3" with the DWORD Data being "5" (in Decimal) Or just install the cab below and soft-reset!!

Re: Sprint Force Roaming Cab
You will stay on Sprint as long as it is strong. If you happen to switch to a different carriers tower you will stay on it throughout the call, even if the phone picks up a weak sprint signal. This way you won't drop a call because it switches you to a weak Sprint signal. Once you hangup you will then switch back to the Sprint tower after the call.
Basically it will give you a stronger signal. It helps. Maybe Pokerpot can explain it better. |

Re: Sprint Force Roaming Cab
do we have to go to the phone settings and set it to roaming only? or does it do this all automatic?

Re: Sprint Force Roaming Cab
I believe the story is that you'll only get 3G data with roaming if you're in a former Alltel 3G area. I believe Sprint doesn't have a 3G roaming agreement with Verizon (mucho $$$).

Re: Sprint Force Roaming Cab
it is manual, cuz otherwise it would be "automatic", which is what Sprint already has in place. What none of these patches do, which is what one really wants, is a settable "weak signal" threshold. The problem is not the Sprint-included automatic feature, rather its that the threshold for roaming is set for such a low Sprint signal that there is a big regime in which you can't get or make calls reliably, yet there's just enough Sprint signal around to inhibit the auto roaming feature. If we could just tweak that low Sprint signal threshold to something more reasonable, then force roaming would not be needed...
