MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
Is anyone experiencing this problem too? In google maps, MY LOCATION is off by a few blocks. I installed the TP2 clean up cab so I thought that might have something to do with it. So I did a hard reset and ONLY installed google maps and am still having the same problem.
HELP!!! Thanks. |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
Did you enable the "Use GPS" feature?

Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
I haven't had that problem but I am in a 1x area and the whole 'my location' thing doesn't work for me. (Sprint) Dissapointing too since I really like the weather clock...Google maps however finds four satelites and my exact location even though I live in a newly built house and google hasn't updated all of the roads and addresses yet.

Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
I bet that google maps is locating you based on cell phone tower. Google maps locates me about 7 miles from my actual location at home (until I got gps to work).
Did you change the setup "location on/911 only" to "on"? Are you VZW? Most individuals with VZW seemed to work out of the box once they set location "on". Other cell phone providers had to jump through more hoops: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78592&page=2 |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
just add your city on the world clock and select it as default and the my location is going to adjust itself after that you can delete your city if you want to, that happened to me too
hope it helps |

I just tried that too. No luck. =( |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
Bumping this thread to the top, did you find a resolution to your problem? Im constantly getting my location within 1000 meters. Again, never had this problem with the TP1.
I plan on having my phone side by side with a friends TP2. He says he never encounters this problem :( |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
If you are off my so much then is is not using your gps for location just cell tower location.

Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
depending on what version of Google Maps you have, the "my location" feature will be better or worse. the current build on the NRG roms are the worst offenders i think. some of the older builds were much better.

Sounds like folks are not turning the GPS on or the GPS is not getting a lock. If they did turn the GPS on it will either lock or report back "Weak GPS Signal". Which was not stated so I think they just didn't turn the GPS on in Google Maps. Check out my signature for detailed steps and some do's and don'ts |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
My TP2 does this when I'm inside. When I step outside, it gives me my exact location

Need more details. Is it reporting "Weak GPS"? Is it showing number of Satellites in the upper right hand corner? Did you setup QuickGPS which helps it lock faster? Did you fiddle with GoogleMaps GPS settings and change it from the default of "Managed by Windows"? What ROM you running? If you are getting a tower lock which sound like you are, that's half the battle. |
Re: MY LOCATION is wrong in Google Maps.
Location fix and GPS fix are different.I would be upset if my location wasnt working...When i see Location fix I automatically expect cell tower location unless GPS is running. It's quicker to get a cell tower fix if you need to find something local...GPS is only need if you need exact directions.
