Sim card and Sim Unlocker?
 

well...when it comes to unlocking the phone....installing roms...etc, ive done that for a while now... however, im not too familiar with the sim card, unlocking the sim card, the benefits of unlocking it, etc.


Would anybody be able to give me any sort of info so i could get a better understanding?

The sim card unlock, just unlocks the sim for US carrier use. (T-mobile, AT&T). It also allows you to change radios. I put a thread out about it to not to long ago. Tried searching for it, but couldn't find it.

A stock CDMA carrier TP2 has GSM capabilities, but the carrier's original intent was for it to be used for International GSM use only. By SIM unlocking you can pick up a GSM SIM card from any N/A GSM carrier, pop it in, and use that carrier's GSM network.

Is it necessary to unlock the SIM? If I am with Sprint and dont plan on using it on a GSM network do I need to bother if I wanna used a different rom?

No Sim Unlocker is only for using other SIM cards in your sprint phone inside of the USA. You will still be able to use another Sim outside the country with no alterations to your phone. You only need to use the hspl unlocker is you want to change ROMS. And you will need the Patched Radio "located in other threads" if you choose to unlock you Sprint SIM.

Ive gotten conflicting answers on this, now that the dust has settled, maybe someone would know now. Is it possible to use both the GSM and CDMA at the same time if I get it unlocked?

I Unlocked the sim but have no sim to test it so my question is has someone got it working on tmobile or at&t ?

My att sim works in sprints tp2. I had to manually set gsm network but it works like a charm so far.

But do they work at the same time? Thats the only reason Id want the unlocker.

No.

You can only be linked to CDMA or GSM service one at a time, not both at the same time.

Thats impossible to have 1 phone with 2 carriers with 2 networks using data and calls at the same time. I switch from gsm to cdma. But If im on sprint I have the att sim forwarded to to sprint so thats the only way, if you forward your calls.

Your right only thing i would say to people who want your calls to be FWD and you have Sprint...Use your ATT/Tmobile/prepaid Sim as primary if you need both numbers to ring...Because Sprint will charge you to Forward calls. ANd yes you cant have two Data connections going at one time as the above poster said as well.

So to ask a question that might be a stupid question.. I know that we can use an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card in the TP2 on Sprint, but does it support 3G for AT&T and T-Mobile or just basic data?

Unlocking in simple word helps you in removing the network restriction in your phone,so that you can use any carrier to your phone...All mobile phones initially comes locked to particularcarrier thats why unlocking is necessary..You can unlock your phones using unlock code,these codes will be available at many commercial vendors online like OnlineGsmUnlock.com
