Global setting and GSM Roaming

I know that the Sprint TP2 can't yet work on US-GSM networks through their sim cards. However, I was wondering if it will roam in the US to GSM towers. I ask this because I just changed my setting to CDMA only and it seemed to fix a problem I was having with the phone not working after coming out of Flight Mode. Is there any benefit to have the phone in "global" setting and not CDMA when here in the US?

Re: Global setting and GSM Roaming

I would assume it might save battery life? I'm not really sure. I don know for a fact that when in CDMA you cannot roam on GSM networks though.

Re: Global setting and GSM Roaming

There is no benefit to "Global" mode when in the US. In fact I read somewhere that Global mode is harder on the battery as it fires up the GSM radio periodically... I don't know if that is true or not.

Re: Global setting and GSM Roaming

I turned my global off and then kept getting network error messages and my SMS would no longer go through , so I switched it back.
