but if you have VC enabled and press teh button it doesn't activate itself.

Sure it does.

I've used it a dozen or so times since the upgrade came out on Friday. I can confirm that it works fine both on my heavily tweaked Sprint stock 6.5 ROM and my wife's nearly-untouched one.

You specified that you already have VC enabled, but otherwise I would have recommended that as a first step. You can check the Buttons setting in Settings, Personal to ensure it's actually set to the long press Send key.

Then, all you have to do is hold down the Send key until you get a beep and a microphone icon in the notification area (about 2 seconds on my phone) and go from there.

With my Jawbone Prime headset, my Touch Pro 2 now works correctly. It did not hang up correctly before the new Sprint ROM upgrade. For my purposes Voice Command works fine over Bluetooth. I haven't tested voice notifications of incoming calls, but this is a very long-standing and well-known problem with Voice Command in general.

Can anyone report if incoming voice announcement over BT works now?

Re: voice command still fails in 6.5

nope it does not which really sux cause that is the best part of voice command. not having to pull your phone out to see who is calling is unbeatable to me. at least all other bt notifications work. from reading around looks like there will not be a workaround for this as the new bt stack is the culprit.

Re: voice command still fails in 6.5

On the new 6.5 official ROM I get call announcements over the device speaker even when the "notifications" are set to "bluetooth hands-free only" & my bt headset is connected. So it does announce, it just blares out loud in your pocket when it shouldn't. Seems like they got partway there, at least. Of course you have to turn it on first (voice command, phone, options, announce incoming calls).

FYI the Jawbone Icon does an excellent job of speaking the caller's number in your ear. Not as nice as having the name, but it is an option (and personally I love the icon headset too).

If you want incoming call announce over BT headset, take a look at this thread:
