Zoom Bar-Turned into a App launcher?

Well since the actual zoom bar is part of the resistive touch screen I am looking at the possibility that someone could mod the area for the zoom to act as buttons. It would be simple to assign 4 buttons & turn that area into a "quick launch" bar. Personally I am not very happy with the zoom function & rarely use it.


Labels could be placed at the bottom of the screen like they are now, but they would be triggered by the zoom area instead of the screen. The possibilities are really open. If you don't need the icon labels you could leave it blank & have a really clean look.


As far as a "zoom bar" I would not mind a re-map of the volume controls when you are in a browser to act as a zoom control
