Can I tether my phone to the pc and output via ethernet?

I did a search but couldnt find anything. I'm buying a TV with an ethernet port that is supposed to connect to a cable modem or router, but I connect to the internet via tethering my phone. Is it possible to convert my phone signal through the PC and output it via ethernet cable?

Thanks!

I'm sure it can be done with an ethernet to usb converter

I'm not around what I'd need to test it, but I'd assume it would work if you bridged the connections.

I would like information regarding this too. Ideally I could connect my wireless router to my phone via ad-hoc. Is that possible? WRT54G

Wirelessly posted (XV6875 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en))

Exactly if you bridge usb to ethernet you could share your cell phone connection over a network. I've never done it specifically with my phone but my home network is wifi bridged eth.

Most modern TVs will accept a wireless adapter (via USB). If yours can do this, you can use wifirouter on your phone then pick up the internet on your tv. Wireless, fairly quick... should work good.

You don't need any special adapter. Just put the phone into USB internet sharing and connect it to your PC (make sure you have activesync installed) then go to network connections and find the tethered connection. Select properties and check share this connection.

Plug in TV into the ethernet port on the computer and set the IP to something other than what you're getting from the tethered connection. So the tethered connection would be assigned 192.168.1.150, you would set a static IP for the PC ethernet of 192.168.151 with gateway and DNS set as 192.168.1.150.

Hope that helps.

Can this same thing be done with a Wifi connection? Wifi Router from phone to computer to ethernet connection to computer?

Sorry for the revival of an old post. How do I assign the tethered connection that IP? Do I need to select any other services under Advanced Settings other than DNS?

If you have Vista or Windows 7 its really easy.

Tether your phone to PC

Go to your network connections

Select both your tethered connection (Says something like Windows Mobile Network adaptor or something. Dont have a PC to check it atm) and your computers nic card. This will work on any two connections as long as one has internet access. (So a wifi and nic card,2 nics, etc.)

Right click on the selected connections and pick "Bridge Connections"

Your done.

I can't confirm if you have to do this each time you tether and want it bridged.

Okay, it's still not working and I'm really stumped. I bridged the Wifi connection with the LAN connection and the TV still doesn't detect an internet signal. What am I doing wrong?

I've got a crossover cable connecting the tv to the LAN card, should I be using an ordinary cable? Can I get the same results using ICS (which I'm unfamiliar with as well)?

Thanks for the patience yall.
