Problems getting GPS lock on VZW TP2 with Google Maps

Recently my Google Maps has not been able to lock in on my location closer than 1500 to 1900 meters. I have hard reset and reinstalled GMaps with no luck. I have seen tweaks for Sprint and TMo users and have read that most VZW users are having no problems locking in. Are there any tweaks that I can try for the VZW TP2?

Re: Problems getting GPS lock on VZW TP2 with Google Maps

I haven't had any issues getting a lock on a VZ TP2 with Google Maps.

1 - Make sure that your location is set to "ON" in the phone settings. Soft reset and say OK to the message that says something about the fact you just turned this on.

2 - Run Quick GPS and download a set of data

3- In Google Maps, select Menu, and insure "Use GPS" is checked.

4 - For your initial acquire, leave the phone outside for a while. You should get a lock and get them quickly ( < 1 minute if not almost immediately) after that.

Re: Problems getting GPS lock on VZW TP2 with Google Maps

When I had the Titan we used to have to prime the GPS before we could use it in Google Maps, TomTom, Pharos etc. I haven't had to do that with the TP2, the GPS is much better and can be activated in all the programs I've tried. I even get locks indoors. Maybe you need to prime yours.

Otherwise, check your settings in settings->external gps and make sure its on com4 with 4800 rate. That was what we used on the Titan, and may not be necessary on the TP2 but it's what I'm using and things are working great.

Re: Problems getting GPS lock on VZW TP2 with Google Maps

I *was* unable to get a lock in Google Maps until today. I turned off GPS in Google, closed it, then went back in and turned GPS back on. BAM! Locked on right away. I also saw that the little "Seeking GPS satellites..." notice came up for the first time after I did this, something that had been missing before but that I hadn't noticed.

Hope that helps somebody.
